This policy explains what information the Tel Aviv University app collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the app you agree to this policy.
Information we collect
- Account & profile. Your name, email, phone/WhatsApp number, country, university or program, expected graduation year, date of birth, and any background details you provide when you register or complete your profile.
- Sign-in. You can sign in with an email and password, or with Google or Apple. When you use Google or Apple sign-in, we receive basic profile information (such as your name and email) from that provider.
- Activity. The events you RSVP to, your ticket and attendance status, meetings, and your responses to polls.
- Photos. A profile picture and any photos you choose to upload to event galleries.
- Location. Only while you have an active event ticket, and only to confirm your attendance when you arrive at the venue (a "geofence" check-in). We do not track your location in the background or at any other time.
- Notifications & device. A push-notification token so we can send you updates, and basic device information needed to run the app.
How we use your information
- To run the app — show events, manage your RSVPs and tickets, your personal hub, and attendance.
- To communicate with you — event confirmations, approvals, reminders, and announcements by push and email. You can turn notification categories on or off in the app's Settings.
- To understand participation and improve our programming.
How we share your information
- With Tel Aviv University staff who organize and run the programs.
- With service providers who operate the app on our behalf — hosting, push-notification delivery (Expo), email delivery, and our relationship-management system (Salesforce) — under obligations to protect your information.
- When required by law, or to protect the safety and rights of our community.
- We do not sell your personal information.
Your choices and rights
- View and update your profile any time in the app (Account / Settings).
- Turn off notification categories you don't want.
- Request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information by contacting us.
Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active and as needed to run our programs and meet legal obligations. When you ask us to delete your account, we remove or de-identify your personal information except where we're required to keep it.
Security
Information is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS), and the app authenticates using secure tokens rather than storing your password on your device. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information.
Children
The app is intended for university students and adults. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll revise the "Last updated" date above, and significant changes may be highlighted in the app.
